About Us – Handspinners And Weavers Guild Of SA
We aim to promote the growth of spinning, weaving, and associated crafts, preserving and celebrating these arts as part of our world heritage.
We are members of the Handspinners and Weavers Guild of South Australia and have been spinning, weaving, and crafting since 1963.
Our Mission: We are committed to preserving traditional skills and techniques that have been passed down through generations. At the same time, we embrace and encourage the development of new methods and ideas to keep our crafts relevant to modern lifestyles.
Our Heritage: The threads of spinning and weaving connect us to our ancestors, yet our practices continue to evolve and adapt to the present day. Join us in celebrating the timeless art of crafting and its contemporary innovations.
The Guild is at 196 South Road, Mile End, South Australia.
Guild meetings are held on the first Saturday of each month, except in January when we host a Picnic in the Park. Please check the calendar for the exact date of the Picnic.
Management: The Guild is managed by a Committee, elected at the Annual General Meeting in October. Any member who has been with the Guild for a year or more is eligible to nominate for a position on the Committee.
Governance: The Guild operates under a constitution, bylaws, and policies to ensure effective and fair management.
