Join a Guild Group and Learn with Us!

Important Notice:
Group meetings may be affected by temperatures over 35 degrees and public holidays. Additionally, Guild groups usually take a short Christmas break from mid-December to mid-January. For more information, please contact the Guild.

How to Join a Guild Group:

All Guild members, including country members and members of affiliated groups, are welcome to attend any of the listed Guild Groups. The groups meet in the Guild Hall weekly or as indicated.

Donation for Guild Hall Use:

  • Guild Members: $3 per day
  • Members of Affiliated Groups: $6 per day

Spinning

Join Our Spinning Get-Together!

Day: Tuesdays
Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

New to spinning? No problem! Spinning lessons are provided. Please arrive with your wheel or spindle by 9:30 AM.

Weaving

Join the Weaver Birds!

Day: Wednesdays
Time: 10:30 AM – 3pm PM

Tapestry weavers, loom weavers, inkle and braid weavers – in fact, all types of weavers are welcome. Bring your portable loom or arrange to use one of the Guild’s floor looms in advance. Contact Ali at <weaverbirds at spinweavesa.org>.

Felting

Join the Sunday Felt Group!

Day: 3rd Sunday of each month
Time: 9:30 AM start

Weavers Study Group

Join the Weavers Study Group!

A dedicated group that meets twice a year (February and August) on Guild meeting days to exchange weaving samples. Stay connected and share progress through our Facebook group.

Day: 1st Saturday of each month (Guild meeting day)

Come and discuss all things weaving. Bring all your questions and enjoy engaging conversations with fellow weaving enthusiasts.

Spin To Knit

Join the Socks, Scarves, Shawls & Cowls Group!

Day: 2nd Saturday of each month
Time: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

This group focuses on exploring the best methods to spin and knit various items. Currently, they are working on socks.

First saturday craft group

Day: First Saturday of the month after the General Meeting concludes.
Time: 12:30 PM – 4 PM

This group is for those who just love to craft and chat. Any craft is welcome. Bring your wheel, loom or knitting and enjoy a relaxing Saturday afternoon. No meeting in January.

WHy Wedneday (all Fibre crafts)

0All crafters—spinners, weavers, felters, braiders, knitters, and more—are welcome to join this group, which began meeting in August 2023.

Meeting Details:

  • Day: EVERY Wednesday
  • Time: 5:30 PM – 8:00PM

All Guild members are invited to come and work together in a supportive environment, perfect for those with daytime commitments.

Dyeing

Use the Guild Dye Room!

Individuals or groups can take advantage of the Guild’s dye room, equipped with four gas burners, providing an efficient way to complete all your dyeing projects.

Rates:

  • Guild Members: $6 per day
  • Affiliated Group Members: $12 per day (double the usual charge)

A number of spinning and weaving groups across South Australia and country Victoria are affiliated with the Handspinners and Weavers Guild of SA.

Visitors Welcome! Visitors are welcome at our meetings. Please note that meetings may be cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions. Many of these groups also organise activities and events for everyone to enjoy.

Seaford:

Seaford and District Handspinners & Weavers Group

  • Day: Mondays (excluding public holidays)
  • Time: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Location: Christies Beach Sailing Club, Esplanade, Christies Beach

Visitors are welcome! If you are new to spinning, the group has spare wheels and will help you get started. They will also assist you with weaving.

Aldinga:

The Aldinga & Sellicks Spinners, Knitters, Weavers, and Felters

  • Day: Third Tuesdays
  • Time: 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Location: Aldinga Institute, Old Coach Road, Aldinga (during school terms)

Visitors are welcome! Tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided. They hold an Open Day in early August, titled “Fleece To Fashion.”

Elizabeth:

Elizabeth Spinners and Weavers Inc

Please note: A hot weather policy is in place for most groups, and they do not meet when the temperature exceeds 37 degrees.
